Why
Why Thrive Exists.
Most people are expected to make some of their most important decisions without ever really being taught how.
How to navigate work. Build financial strength. Lead. Stay strong and connected. Make better decisions. Know what matters. Turn what they want into action.
Information is everywhere. The harder questions are personal:
- What actually matters to me?
- Where am I trying to go?
- What should I do next?
- How do I follow through when real life gets in the way?
Thrive exists to give people a clearer way to answer those questions, decide what comes next, and follow through.
Why Thrive Is Different.
Thrive does not tell you what your version of success should look like.
It helps you define it, build toward it, and follow through.
Four principles shape every Thrive experience.
Practical
Tools, conversations, reflection, and structure designed to help you think clearly, make decisions, and follow through.
Personal
Your circumstances. Your priorities. Your definition of success. A path built around what matters to you.
Connected
Work, wealth, wellness, relationships, leadership, and major decisions affect one another. Thrive helps you account for those connections.
Built For Action
Understanding is valuable. Change comes from what you do with it. Thrive helps turn insight into priorities, decisions, and focused action.
Why Dr. Rick?
I’m Dr. Rick Newman, an Organizational Psychologist, former executive, and former financial advisor.
For more than three decades, I have helped people and organizations improve performance, navigate change, and make consequential decisions.
I have done that from very different seats, including executive leadership, operations, people leadership, consulting, financial advising, coaching, and counseling.
That combination matters because the challenges people face do not fit neatly inside professional specialties.
Work
I have spent decades inside organizations seeing how value gets created, decisions get made, people navigate complexity, leaders emerge, and strategy becomes results.
Wealth
As a former financial advisor and fiduciary, I helped people navigate financial decisions, tradeoffs, transitions, priorities, and long-term goals.
Wellness
Through Organizational Psychology, counseling, coaching, and mentoring, I have seen how energy, mindset, purpose, relationships, and connection shape nearly everything else.
Thrive was not built from one discipline or one chapter of my life.
It was built from decades of seeing how the pieces actually connect.
Trusted by Leading Organizations to Help People and Businesses Thrive

Why I Created Thrive.
I have been wired to help people for as long as I can remember.
I grew up in a home that welcomed 45 foster children over the years. Watching them face uncertainty, setbacks, opportunity, and change shaped how I think about potential and what it means to thrive.
That experience led me to counseling teens and young adults, graduate work in Organizational Psychology, and a career spanning organizations, leadership, finance, and coaching.
Different roles. Different people. Different challenges.
But the same pattern kept showing up.
Smart, capable people were not short on ambition or potential. They needed a clearer way to decide what mattered, connect the pieces, and follow through.
Inside organizations, the same gap appeared in a different form. Talented people were expected to navigate, lead, create value, and execute without a clear system for doing it.
After years of six-day and seven-day workweeks, my wife Liz, a former Army Signals Intelligence badass turned corporate executive, told me it might be time to retire.
I listened. I retired.
It did not stick.
Without Liz, Thrive would not exist. She helped me stop long enough to realize that I was not done helping people.
I did not want another corporate title. I wanted to turn what I had learned into something people could use to make better decisions, move forward with greater confidence, and build stronger futures.
That is where Thrive AF came from.
Thrive is not a theory I invented after leaving the real world.
It is the culmination of decades spent inside it.

Help your people create more value, increase their impact, and execute what matters.
Why Now?
The decisions you make today shape what becomes possible tomorrow.
So do the decisions you postpone.
Whether you are building what comes next for yourself or developing the people responsible for your organization’s future, you do not need to have everything figured out before you begin.
